In today’s Gospel reading Jesus is again speaking about his death. We are reminded that if we want to serve him, then we must first give up doing just what we want to do and follow him. Therefore we have placed Jesus beside the open Bible, where we can start to work out what following Jesus actually means in practical living.
Lord, help me to see, with the clarity of Christ’s vision, that life is more than satisfying the needs and wants of myself. Money, possessions and position in society count as nothing to you.
In the economics of eternity, the world’s values are turned upside down.
Help us to have a love that is self-giving and free. A love that can only come by living by your example showing the true values of your kingdom.
